Sound Intent is an electronic, rock, pop, and cinematic solo project founded by guitarist Jools in 2011.
Jools began to play guitar at the age of five, and was self-taught. During his early teens he was an angelic church chorister, where he learnt music theory and keyboard. He undertook a college music course in the late nineties, and then on to the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford in 2001. He has undertaken courses in music production and mastering, created his own home studio and runs every aspect of Sound Intent, creating music videos, writing, arranging, producing, mixing, and mastering the music. Jools is a member of PPL, PRS for Music, and Music Producers Guild.
Hailing from the Isle of Wight in the sunny south of England, Sound Intent has released over one hundred songs across ten albums worldwide, on all streaming platforms, as an independent DIY project. Jools' many eclectic and vast musical influences include Erik Satie, Karl Jenkins, Gabriel Fauré, Sergei Prokofiev, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Mike Oldfield, Supertramp, The Move, ELO, Zara Larson, Kate Bush, Tears for Fears, The Carpenters, Uli Jon Roth, Love, Joe Satriani, Bill Nelson, XTC, Wilkinson, Etherwood, John Foxx, Nik Kershaw, and Gary Numan.
In his career so far, he has had the good fortune to work with Hugh Cornwell for five years in 2001, been a live performance session guitarist for the metal band Mathias, played live at Jack up the 80s festival as Sound Intent, and been acknowledged as a great musical arranger by Feargal Sharkey.
