Binocular Mind

Released: April 2025

Bincular Mind album artwork

Synopsis

Binocular Mind marks a significant evolution in the Sound Intent catalogue, bringing lyrical storytelling and vocal performance to the forefront of an established cinematic electronic sound. Exploring themes of perception, identity, self-worth and human connection, the album examines the ways people interpret themselves, others and the world around them. Through recurring imagery of mirrors, shadows, dreams and shifting realities, the songs move between introspection and emotional vulnerability, revealing multiple perspectives on love, longing and personal discovery. The album questions how much of what we experience is shaped by reality and how much is shaped by the lens through which we choose to view it. Combining atmospheric electronic production, expressive guitars, immersive sound design and AI-assisted vocal performance, Binocular Mind represents a transitional chapter within the Sound Intent journey, connecting earlier instrumental explorations with the more narrative-driven works that would follow.

Production Notes

All compositions, arrangements, performances, recording, sound design, mixing and production were undertaken by Jools under the Sound Intent project. The albums were developed within a home studio environment using a combination of digital recording technologies, software instruments, sound design techniques and electric guitar performance. While each project explores its own musical identity, a common production philosophy runs throughout the catalogue; blending cinematic atmospheres, expressive melodic content and immersive electronic textures to create emotionally driven listening experiences. Sound design plays a significant role across the releases, helping to establish the narrative, mood and character of each album. Binocular Mind was developed around the concept of perspective, examining how people interpret themselves, others and the world around them through different emotional and psychological lenses. The album explores themes of identity, self-worth, connection and perception, using recurring motifs of observation, duality and shifting viewpoints to create a cohesive conceptual framework. As one of the earliest Sound Intent projects to fully integrate AI-assisted vocal performance, the album presents human-written lyrics, concepts and artistic direction through virtual vocalists. Rather than replacing human creativity, the technology functions as a creative instrument within the project, supporting its exploration of consciousness, perception and the many ways individuals experience and interpret reality.
